Virginia Lake Apartments is located
just west of the Peppermill Hotel. Also to the west of Virginia
Lake Apartments community is Virginia Lake Park which has
playgrounds, ball fields, a path for walking or jogging, picnic
shelter and tables, barbeques, restrooms, exercise areas and of
course, the big lake for fishing. Virginia Lake itself is
surrounded by a walking path and is adjacent to a playground and
dog park, so outside activities are right outside the door. Reno's
Virginia Lake Park is like an oasis in the middle of the city.
Surrounded by the urban environs of Reno which has spread around
it, Virginia Lake and its park provide a calm and quiet place to
live.

Virginia Lake Park was actually south
of Reno when it was built by the CCC during the depression in the
1930s. The park has not moved since then, but the city has grown
around it. Though originally designed for swimming, Virginia Lake
is now only for viewing or fishing from a new dock. Ducks, geese
and gulls, many of which have become permanent residents, are now
the only ones in the water. Strolling, however, has been enhanced
by recent upgrades to the landscaping and walking paths to walk,
jog, have a picnic or relax in the shade and enjoy the view
across the water.
